July 2021: Susan Weed
This month, we’re shining our Volunteer Spotlight on Susan Weed!
Susan first heard about CASA of Cecil County from an article in the Cecil Whig. She had an immediate interest, but admittedly had a few reservations. After getting more information, she “made the leap” and has been a wonderful addition to Team CASA. Currently, she is working on 2 cases and works closely with some of our other Advocates to provide play dates for their CASA Kids and provide a support system to each other. We’re excited to hear about our Advocates working together to better serve Cecil County’s children and youth!
Outside of her work with CASA, Susan has a full, fun life. She has been married for over 30 years and is a proud mother and grandmother. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and international travel. Some of her favorite trips have been to Ireland, Italy, and the Caribbean. Susan is also a crafter and enjoys making jewelry. She has participated in First Friday as a jewelry vendor, and has donated the proceeds to CASA.
Susan said her favorite event with CASA is our annual Festival of Trees, which is held every November in downtown North East. Our Festival of Trees event helps CASA of Cecil County raise money to provide transitional housing to older youths in the foster care system. Susan also said she is always “floored by the CASA staff” and is excited to see CASA’s growth.
Susan has done a lot for Cecil County’s children, and we are humbled to have her on our team. Thank you for all your hard work, Susan!
